October 26, 2010 - Unwavering.

It's not a term you can use about very many things in our tumultuous lives. Like they say, the only thing certain about life is change. But in the last 11 years of my life, two things have not wavered... this dog's loyalty and unconditional love.

And now it looks like Georgia will know those unwavering traits as well.

Our Bacchus might be slobbery. He might be smelly sometimes. He might be messy. He might shed a lot... no A LOT. He might leave vomit spots on the carpet. He might eat his food too fast and leave that on the carpet too. He might be all of those things, but he still makes me and my little girl smile... and that is everything.

October 25, 2010 - A Knife, A Squash & Some Squish

The pumpkin we picked up yesterday didn't remain whole for long. A pumpkin is just too tempting this close to Halloween. Georgia thought so too.

So the pumpkin got it... gutted!

Our dainty ::sigh:: Georgia hesitated to dig in at first, the pumpkin slime perhaps a bit too much.

Or maybe it was the carnage of pumpkin guts on the floor.

She was hesitant until she squished some pumpkin between her pudgy fingers and realized that was fun!

October 24, 2010 - It's Pumpkin Time!!

No, I don't mean Halloween. It's time to immerse ourselves in orange globes on the vine, candy apples, hay bales, steaming cups of liquid caffeine, kids on sugar highs and everything pumpkin patch!!

This place is more than just a pumpkin farm. It's like the Fall-themed amusement park of Omaha.

Think I'm kidding? There are freaking singing ears of corn! I think Nebraskans are stereotyping themselves a bit here. Oh, but there's a singing bunny too.

My husband and I had never ventured to this place before now. In past years, we opted for the quieter, possibly mundane, pumpkin patches that had... well, pumpkins.

Here, Georgia could be a princess.

And every day her daddy's princess...

We fed donkeys and camels. Yes, camels. I know, nothing to do with Fall and pumpkins, but it was cool!

We danced inside straw tepees.

And Georgia had her very first PONY RIDE!!! She loved it. If you do not know me, then you might not realize why this is a big deal. Horses have been a big part of my life, and like every good horse mom, I have visions of my daughter on horseback. Today, a pony was close enough!

And yes, amidst all the chaos and the amusements and the distractions and the food, we did find some pumpkins.

We're taking this one home to carve up.

October 23, 2010 - Watching Our Best Friends

For the end of October, we are having amazing weather for Nebraska. Instead of jackets and heavy boots, flip-flops, shorts and T-shirts still populate the town. So today, Georgia and I opened up the doors and windows to let the 70's into our house!

So that means watching and playing with the dogs - through the porch screen. It's a favorite past time of Georgia's... and I think the dogs too.

I still don't know what this look was though...

I think perhaps there had been some plotting going on as to how Georgia could get that toy from Bailey!

October 21, 2010 - She Likes It, She Really, Really Likes It!

Day 1 1/2 of milk... and things are going surprisingly well so far. I think I can finally stop holding my breath.
