Spring is Close, I Can Feel It!

We're are at that time of the year when winter and spring seemed intertwined - mix in a few days of a chilly breeze, toss in a few days of sunshine, add in a few days of cloudy cool skies and follow it up with some flower buds and greening grass. Spring is almost here and lately, we've had some spring-like days in this ending winter season.

Warm sunny weather tends to do this to little three-year-old girls:

Side effects: finding the nearest hill and rolling down it over and over and over again.

Ah spring, how sweet art thou?

January 6, 2012 - Dear Mother Nature, I Love That You're Confused...

... because 60-degree weather in January ROCKS! I hope you continue to think we are in the midst of Spring and not Winter.

01.06.12 028

Today called for a morning spent in the backyard... without jackets... and without shoes. Yipee!!!

Georgia and I even had to dump a little sand on the ground, so we could put our toes in the sand and imagine we were at the beach.

Today would not have been complete without a picnic. Come on, when can you have a picnic in the backyard in January?

Just a Lazy Evening Outside

Before winter decided to show its frozen, windy, 30-something degree head again, we spent Sunday evening outside getting the flower beds ready for the warmer weather I know is coming. Trust me, there are rain dances, I'm out doing the freaking Spring dance and I don't care what kind of crazy get-up I have to wear to make it happen. So flowers - get ready to bloom!

My most perfect flower though is blooming already. Isn't she beautiful?

She would rather take the dirt out of the flower bed and examine it (and taste it too), than leave it in there for the flowers. But hey, dirt for plants to grow in is over-rated, right?

It doesn't hurt that Georgia and I have quite the guy to serenade us while we work!

We are two lucky ladies. Now if only he can do something about the weather...

Spring Makes Its Return

This weekend, we got outside as much as possible. With temperatures in the high 60's, it appears spring has decided not to leave us after all. Yeah!

In the backyard on Friday afternoon, Georgia found the only standing water in the whole place and was sucked right in. Why is it kids just seem magnetized by water!

04.01.11 012

Not to mention, it was gross water sitting in the Christmas tree stand that never made it back to the garage after Christmas. Did I mention our Christmas tree is still in the backyard too? Yeah, sad, I know.

But what could get a kid away from gross, yucky water? Teasing the dog with his tennis ball that he is obsessively attached to.

04.01.11 033-2

After the ball thing, I think Bailey might have been laughing when Georgia did a face plant in the grass!

On Saturday, even better weather. Look, no jackets when we headed to the park!!!

Another face plant! Is daddy laughing... I think he is.

Sunday - more nice weather and another park. This one came with geese.

04.03.11 001

We had to feed them of course!

04.03.11 013

Georgia wouldn't share all her bread though.

Wishy-Washy Weather!

It seems like just the other day I was writing a post about the beautiful, warm weather here in Nebraska, and how Georgia and I were able to get outside and soak every last ounce of it up. Wait... that was the other day! But a few days later, you'd never know it.

SNOW... and quite a bit of it for late March. Somewhere around five inches fell overnight. So much for those thoughts about pulling out the shorts and T-shirts. Instead, Georgia and I stayed inside today, bundled up in our jammies.

Since we didn't go out in the snow, we brought the snow inside to us.

It doesn't take a refresher of that middle school science class to know in the warmth, snow will turn to water. Georgia liked that science lesson... a lot.

My kitchen floor - not so much.

03.25.11 039-2
Notice the water is NOT going back into the tub.

03.25.11 054-2

I would say let's hope it starts getting warmer quickly, but as I write this, the flakes are falling outside my window... again! So much for spring weather in Spring.
