September 29, 2010 - Party Work

Ah, the beginning of progress. It's not much progress yet, and my sisters (and husband) will make much fun at my expense for all the work that goes into this, but I'm starting the paper decorations for Georgia's first birthday.

This will be the sign that goes on the front door, welcoming guests to the party and inviting them inside the house.

Yeah, so far it's not much. I have a lot of hours cutting and tracing and coloring and gluing and glittering ahead of me.

Finished work pictures will definitely be coming eventually. Like ten blisters and calluses, one episode of spilling glitter all over, marker on my face, glue in my hair and five almost sleepless nights later, coming.

September 28, 2010 - New Green Friend

We have a new friend in the house. He doesn't have a name yet and Georgia is still getting used to him. He's green and seems very friendly.

He a dragon on wheels, a walker, which hopefully Georgia will learn to push and walk with at the same time. Right now she just goes along on her knees. Ah, baby steps I guess, baby steps.

September 27, 2010 - More Goodness

So after the new success with the pancakes and sausage, I decided to get wild.

Brace yourself.

Sweet potatoes with brown sugar and cinnamon.

I know, how can Georgia resist that? Take another look, yum!

First try, she liked them. Ate an entire handful. Later in the day, well let's just say the floor decided to treat the dogs to a snack. Oh well.

September 26, 2010 - Georgia Has a New Love!

And it's called blueberry pancakes and turkey sausage. Come on, you knew turkey had to be in there somehow.

You can find this deliciousness in our kitchen around 8 a.m. most mornings. And yummy, I get the leftovers!

September 25, 2010 - So Cute Together

It's hard to get a good shot of my husband with Georgia. He doesn't like his picture taken. So forgive the poor quality of the picture, I usually only get one shot.

I just thought it was so cute to watch him feeding her lunch and helping her drink from her sippy cup.

That's all. They're adorable together.

September 23, 2010 - Yes, It's Art.

When Georgia comes home from daycare every day, she comes home with a progress report of sorts. When she ate, how much she ate, when she peed, when she pooped, when she napped and what she did that day. I know, riveting.

This week under the "what she did section," it said "Georgia made an apple. She glues on a leaf, a stem, a worm and a hole... and she did it all by herself." What?!?!?! She did it? That was enough to bring a tear to this mommy eye. OK, more than one tear. OK, yeah, I did the happy, ugly cry for a moment.

SHE'S GROWING UP SO FAST!

So today, Georgia and I set out to make some artwork at home. OK, I set out and Georgia followed. Here's our end result.

So I:
-traced the leaves
-cut the leaves out
-found the glue
-glued on the grass and the trunk/branches
-put the glue on the back of the leaves
-"guided" Georgia's little hands with leaves in tow to the paper
-hung finished artwork on the fridge

Georgia:
-humored mommy
-tried to eat the glue
-tried to eat the paper
-tried to eat the glue and the paper together
-put the one red maple leaf on the tree trunk mostly by her self

So how do you like "Georgia's" artwork?
